Books: Food For Thought

About a year ago, I took up the habit of reading regularly again. I used to be a huge bookworm growing up, and somewhere along the line I switched out books for video games. Now I'm switching back, and here are a few of my favorites.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho: I'm not a religious person, but this book preaches the importance of being able to let go of your life and let your heart choose your way. Though some may find the overall message preachy or chiché, the story is remarcable and has gotten me through some tough times. After reading it a few years ago, after I graduated high school, it still remains my favorite book.

Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell: The fact that I finished this book is a feat in itself. The story and characters of this story touched me so much that it began to feel so real by the end. Seeing the movie, though a classic, is not enough. Gone With The Wind is a true literary achievement, it's unfortunate how overlooked it's become since the movie. This is my second favorite, and a book I'd recommend anyone to read.

Indulgences: Sure To Win Me

Anyone who knows me well realizes how fond I am of anything Disney related. Maybe I've spent too much time living in Orlando, but I never get tired of Disney. I have a growing collection of classic films on DVD, I love them all. Even so, my favorites are Bambi, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid (yes, in that order). Though not exactly in this category, though I'm forcing it to be, I absolutely love Studio Ghibli films as well.
I guess I'm a bit surprised that I started reading so much about vampires. I'm not really sure how I got into this, it just slowly happened over time. I haven't watched very many movies at all, but I have a growing collection of vampire books. I just think vampires are neat. Oddly enough, I saw some of Nosferatu when I was little and it gave nightmares for the longest time. Maybe that's why I prefer my vampires to be pretty.
